Good-Bye for Now and Congratulations
 
The school year is coming to a close. The year always seems to start off slowly and then, voilà, we can’t believe it is already over. Time truly goes by too quickly, especially when it comes to our children’s school years. One minute they are starting kindergarten, and before we know it, they are graduating from high school.
 
Of course, this is exactly what is supposed to happen. They learn, grow, progress, and move forward. When that happens, it means all is going well. We went through this process ourselves, and our parents were likely joyful, sad, or perhaps a little of both as we advanced through each grade level.
 
For many of our students, school will end on June 26. Yet because of the many enrichment opportunities we offer during the summer, some will be back with us just a few days later. In fact, many students spend part of their summer in Island Trees, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. These programs continue to develop their skills, broaden their experiences, and prepare them for the day when they leave us to pursue their next chapter.
 
Which brings us to the Class of 2026.
 
On the evening of Friday, June 26, they will follow the same traditions that generations of Island Trees graduates have followed before them as they gather on the stadium field for commencement. We are incredibly proud of these young men and women for moving forward each year through their academic work, extracurricular activities, and personal growth, ultimately reaching this important milestone.
 
We wish them the very best as they venture off to college, the workforce, military service, or whatever path they choose to pursue. Wherever life takes them, their journey began here in our “Small & Mighty” school district, located in America’s first suburb.
 
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. As you leave Island Trees, we leave you with the words made famous by Green Day: we hope you had the time of your life.
