Programmed Learning Sequence (PLS)

A Programmed Learning Sequence is one instructional method that sub-divides course content into segments so that it can be learned visually, tactually, or on tape in small sequential steps without direct teacher instruction. PLSs include a global beginning, a shaped cover, frames on which parts of the knowledge base are subdivided into small segments accompanied by questions, answers, and humorous puns, and periodic game-like tactual reinforcements. PLSs are responsive to students who need structure and profit from sequential small steps to master academic requirements (Dunn & Griggs, 2004).
