Psychologist Bios

Dr. M. Perlotto

Dr. Perlotto is proud to be a staff member of the Student Support Center in the Middle School. He finds it extremely rewarding when he is able to help students reach their full potential. Besides providing individual counseling for students, Dr. Perlotto provides ongoing consultation with teachers, conducts psychological evaluations and leads social skill and self-esteem groups for the students at the Middle School. He is also a participating member of the Middle School Bully Proofing Committee. Special areas of clinical interest include grief counseling and Asperger syndrome.

Before coming to Island Trees, Dr. Perlotto worked in community mental health and outpatient substance abuse treatment with adolescents and adults. He has also worked in school settings with preschoolers, elementary and high school students.

Dr. Perlotto earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Hartford, his Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Lesley College, and his Doctorate in Child Clinical/School Psychology from Pace University. His professional training has included instruction and supervision in the areas of learning disabilities, psychological assessment, child and adolescent psychotherapy, family therapy, group therapy, and school consultation. In addition to working for Island Trees, Dr. Perlotto is in private practice in Suffolk County and is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at Pace University.
