Psychologist Bios

Dr. M. Leone

Dr. Leone has enjoyed her position as a school psychologist in the Island Trees Middle School since September, 1993. After earning her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester, Dr. Leone moved to Long Island to pursue a Doctoral Degree in Clinical and School Psychology at Hofstra University. Upon completing her Ph.D. Dr. Leone landed her first job in the Island Trees School District.

Dr. Leone specializes in treating drug and alcohol addiction along with eating disorders. She was employed as a staff psychologist at Nassau County Department of Drug and Alcohol Addiction from 1991 through 1994. She joined the staff of Southeast Nassau Guidance Counseling Center in 1995 where she treated drug addiction through 2001.

Dr. Leone conducted several research studies with colleagues from Columbia University's Obesity Research Center. Dr. Leone published articles in Pediatrics and in Eating Disorders on factors influencing body image and physical activity levels in children. Dr. Leone established her own private practice in 1999 where she continues to work with both children and adults.
