The Health Education classes at the middle school encourage students to discover, analyze, interpret and discuss various health topics which include nutrition and fitness, stress, the body systems, disease, smoking, drugs, alcohol, family life and AIDS. Students also learn how to access their community for health information and they are provided the opportunity to learn CPR according to the standards of the American Heart Association. Classes engage in projects, research in the school library and on the Internet, oral presentations, group work, and class discussion. The goal of the health program is to engender individuals with tools to make intelligent and healthy decisions about their health.

Health Education is a one-semester class. Students will be enrolled either from September to the end of January or from February to June usually in grade 7. All work is done in class. There is virtually no homework, except study, unless a student has not completed an assignment or project in class. Grades are based on an average of scores from tests, projects and other class assignments. There is a final exam at the end of the semester.
