Dear Parents and Guardians,

As some of you may know, last year we introduced the Hance Family Foundations Beautiful Me Project to our building.  The program received great reviews and the girls loved it!  Now, we are happy to announce that the program will be offered to our junior girls on Thursday, February 16th!  The program will take place in the gymnasium and run approximately periods two through four.  Our Island Trees teachers have been trained and they are very excited to be implementing this wonderful program!  Also, the PTA has graciously offered to provide breakfast for the girls during this time.  It definitely will be a day to remember!

In completing this program, our wish is to enhance your daughters self-esteem, increase positive body awareness, improve her problem solving skills, and to help her build healthy friendship skills.  Our lessons are designed to teach girls of all ages how to think positively and with assurance about their bodies, their skills, and their relationships with others.

Currently, the Beautiful Me program is being taught across New York City and the greater metro area, New Jersey, Chicago and Florida.  This program has been accepted into the curriculum of several Nassau County schools, the teaching program at Molloy College, Fordham Universitys Department of Social Work, St. Johns University, and Cohens Childrens Medical Center.  For more information, please see http://hancefamilyfoundation.org/beautiful-me/ or feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

It is important to note that each girl needs consent to participate in the program! Please use the link below to complete the online consent form.  We’re looking forward to another successful program here at Island Trees!
