24 Medals Won for Island Trees at the Science Olympiad Regionals
Science Olympiad is a premier science competition providing rigorous, standard based challenges to 7,400 teams in 50 states. The events are ever-changing in all STEM disciplines.
This past Saturday at Wantagh High School. the Science Olympiad team won a total of 24 medals in categories such as anatomy and physiology, astronomy, dynamic planet, fermi questions, helicopters, hovercraft, materials science, microbe mission, optics, remote sensing, rocks and minerals and thermodynamics. Island Trees came in winning 10th place overall against 43 competitive schools. Our students worked with our science teachers focusing on different events depending on their areas of specialty.
A special thank you to John Callis, Maria Gribbin, Austin Grabowski, Danielle Hastings and to all the other teachers who contributed their time to this endeavor. A very special thank you to Tamara Barfield, our Science Olympiad Team Captain. We would not be successful without all your hard work!
