A Night of Champions

     The Island Trees Track and Field team ran away with ten new conference champions on Thursday at the Conference 6 Championships at St. Anthony's High School. Cara Duffy (1000 M & 1500 M) and Rich Imbro ( 300 M & 4 x 200 M relay) led the way in two different events. Courtney Martin (55 M hurdles), Tommy Zamroz ( shotput), Matt Sellitto (200 M relay), Matt Lardi (200 M relay), Stephen Craine (200 M relay), and Gianna McGowan (55 M) all were triumphant in their events too. Cara and Gianna both set new Island Trees winter season records in their events.

Overall, the girls team became the conference runner-up by coming in 2nd to the Cold Spring Harbor squad, while the boys were in the upper end of the field by coming in a solid 4th place. It should also be noted that our combined team is still quite young (only 4 seniors), and as such we expect much more success in the future.
