Led by junior Quiz Bowl veterans David Wendt, Thomas Zamroz, and Ethan Garcia, the IT Academic Team is stepping up their competitive level this school year. Fresh off a fourth-place finish in the Junior Varsity division of last year's Long Island Regional Quiz Bowl, the team is expanding their competitive experiences as well as their knowledge in upcoming competitions at Kellenberg High School, Kings Park High School, and the remaining winter and spring events at the Columbia Cup. The Columbia Cup is one of the finest tournaments in the United States, featuring national championship teams that compete at the highest levels across our area as well as Long Island. It also provides the students with the experience of attending one of the famed universities in the world, with competition taking place in historic Hamilton Hall, where the study of the Humanities flourishes.
Last year's JV squad now forms the foundation of the Varsity Quiz Bowl team, which opened its new Regional Quiz Bowl season with its most one-sided victory over West Babylon on November 8, 2017, defeating the Eagles by a 226-22 score.
