"Superhero" Bill of Rights Video Conference
Mrs. Mitchell's third grade class visited with Mrs. Sweeney from the National Archives in Fort Worth, Texas to better understand the "Superpowers" of the Bill of Rights.
As part of their unit study of the United States, students were able to role play various scenarios in which they would be protected by the five freedoms guaranteed by the "Superpowers" of the First Amendment. Students learned these "Superpowers" include, Freedom of Speech, Freedom to Assemble, Freedom of Religion, along with Freedom of the Press and the Freedom to Petition.
Students were able to understand and apply these freedoms to a variety of primary sources.
At the end of the conference, students promised to uphold the Bill of Rights by giving their best "Superhero" pose with Mrs. Sweeney!
