Island Trees School to Business Partnership Meets the Robotics Team
The students showcased their robot and discussed the hard work and sacrifice that goes into building a robot for the FIRST Robotics Competition. The Robotics Club offers students a chance to experience problem-solving that cannot be learned from a textbook. Zuhal Saljooki inspired us when she shared how her college plans changed as a result of her experiences with Robotics. While she had planned to go into the medical field, she found her passion and is now planning to go to engineering school- a life-changing experience. After, the students answered questions from the business leaders on the advisory board. Great job, Mr. Norton and Ms. Hastings!
After the presentation, the Island Trees School to Business Partnership started planning the "interview day" that is part of the Career Advantage program. The Island Trees School to Business Partnership, our advisory board for the School to Career program, is a forum for business professionals, parents, teachers, and political leaders to network and share ideas that help shape YOUR future workforce. Students involved will be "college and career ready". The activities of the advisory board in part determine the curriculum for Career Advantage, an elective course offered at Island Trees High School. The advisory board plans field trips, special events, schedules guest speakers and much more. We need interviewers and chaperones for that day, as well as guest speakers.
