ENL Family Night 2016: A Community Celebration!
Once again, the remarkable Island Trees community, including parents, staff, students, and administrators, gathered together for an evening of learning and sharing on Tuesday, October 25th, for our annual ENL Family Night.
Our families were greeted by our enthusiastic teachers and student volunteers as they entered the always-welcoming lobby of Stokes Elementary. After a shared meal and a warm greeting by Mrs. Hannah Klein, District Chairperson for World Languages and ENL, parents attended informative workshops, while our students enjoyed crafts, literacy activities, and even some dancing!
Presentations provided helpful information on technology, homework help, school and community resources, and the NYSESLAT and other state assessments. Our wonderful presenters included Mrs. Jennifer Anderson, Mr. Jeremy Groneman, Mr. John Rezek, Mrs. Marissa Cifarelli, Mrs. Marlene Camisa, Mrs. Melissa Iglio, Mrs. Kelly Chios, and Mrs. Alicia Rodabaugh. Our PTA graciously invited our ENL families to become involved in PTA, reinforcing the Island Trees spirit of involvement.
The evening culminated in a "Meet and Greet", during which teachers could answer specific questions about students and curriculum. As our families gathered together, a strong sense of community created a palpable excitement that one could hear, see, and feel.
Congratulations to Mrs. Klein and her dedicated department for planning another beautiful evening that celebrated our vibrant ENL community!
