Mindfulness Based Physical Education at Memorial Middle School
Mindfulness can have a huge positive impact on our physical and mental health. It allows students to pay more attention at the present moment, to their own thoughts and feelings, and the world around them. This year, our 5th grade Physical Education classes will be exploring this practice at the beginning of their sessions. This program is designed to support the development of the whole child. Our goal is to combine healthy movement and breathing with mindfulness and social emotional learning to release stress, focus the mind, strengthen and calm the body, as well as promote kindness and acceptance towards oneself, others and our world.
