Recently, our ITMMS staff was trained to use Achieve3000, a blended and differentiated digital literacy platform that can be used across all grade levels and subject areas. Designed to provide high-interest reading for students at their appropriate lexile levels, Achieve3000 helps students to develop close-reading strategies and evidence-based writing techniques. With our 1:1 Chromebook initiative, this program truly enables our staff and students to have access to high-quality reading material.
Students begin the program with a level set test that determines their lexile (reading level) so that teachers are assigning articles and tasks that will promote growth, build confidence, and result in increasing success. Each activity engages students in a before-reading poll, a high-interest article, an activity, an after-reading poll, and a thought question. Students are provided with opportunities to go back and correct answers, as they are provided with immediate feedback - very motivating! In January and June, students will also complete a mid-year and final level set test so that our staff has valuable data to help students meet their goals.
We are grateful to offer our students such a powerful program and look forward to their continued success.
