James Hindshaw

This past summer, James Hinshaw, a senior at Island Trees High School was selected to be part of a very prestigious journalism program called The Robert W. Greene Summer Institute for journalists.  James spent one week living on the campus of SUNY Stony Brook Campus where he had the opportunity to get first hand experience in the world of journalism.   SUNY Stony Brook has a new diversity plan and James and his team were responsible for getting all of the new information onto the website.  James interviewed Assistant Dean of Multicultural Affairs, Jarvis Watson and Dwayne Moore, a senior  and president of the Black Student Union at SUNY Stony Brook.  James was one of 75 students who had the chance to learn how to use WordPress, a blogging platform and he learned interview techniques both of which he can use when he becomes a journalist.  James also received special instruction in photo capturing cameras and video cameras.  James spent long hours and late nights working on this project.  If you ask him, he thought is was a great experience and he would love to do it again. You can view the website at  http://greenegazette.com/2016/
