"There Ought To Be A Law"

Dear Island Trees School Community,

Each year students in the local area compete in a contest sponsored by New York State Senator Kemp Hannon entitled, “There Ought To Be A law.”  Students in the sixth grade work with their social studies teachers to brainstorm issues that could be resolved by creating laws.  The entries are submitted and winners of the contest are honored in the spring.

This year Erin Maguire, a sixth grader at ITMMS, has been named a finalist in the competition.  Erin is going to be honored at the Levittown Hall on Thursday, May 22nd, and will be awarded a citation from the office of State Senator Kemp Hannon.  At the end of the ceremony, the Grand Prize Winner will be announced.

Featured in the picture are Erin Maguire and Mr. Esposito, 6th grade teacher at ITMMS.  Congratulations to Erin on this incredible achievement!
