Congratulations to Kevin Buonomo, 2nd Lieutenant USMC

 

Congratulations to Kevin Buonomo, 2^nd Lieutenant, USMC.

 

On Saturday August 13^th 2011, Kevin Buonomo, ITHS class of 2007, graduated from Marine Officer Candidates School as a 2^nd Lieutenant.  His path to the Marine Corps was not an easy one.  Kevin had prepared for this achievement for well over a year as he studied at Dowling College.  Throughout his studies, he participated in demanding physical training with support from Marines at 1^st Marine Corps District in Garden City.  It was in late April 2011 that Kevin had learned of his acceptance into Marine OCS. 

 

After graduating from Dowling College on May 21, 2011, Summa Cum Laude, and member to multiple honor societies, Kevin reported to Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia.  He spent 10 hard weeks of intense physical and mental training as a member of Charlie Company, 2^nd Platoon.  In these 10 weeks, Kevin learned the responsibilities of leading a platoon of marines.  He will now spend in excess of 6 months at The Basic School, where he will continue to train and learn how to lead his future marines on the battlefield.  We are extremely proud of his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck.  Semper Fidelis!
