What Can I Do with a Degree in Mathematics?
This December, the Island Trees High School math department invited a special guest visitor to help answer this significant question: What Can I Do with a Degree in Mathematics? Juniors and Seniors, enrolled in various math courses, attended an informal meeting with Ms. Courtney Radcliffe, a senior at Loyola University in Maryland. This May, she will graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics: Operations Research. She will also have a minor in Information Systems. Ms. Radcliffe discussed the different courses and types of degrees offered in college for an individual wanting to earn a mathematics degree. She offered information about the different internships she has experienced, including working for Under Armor and Grumman. Students heard first-hand how businesses have a desire to hire individuals with mathematical degrees and the substantial income offered to those who have earned one.
Thank you to Mr. Graham Radcliffe for helping to arrange this amazing educational event.
