Girls Cross Country wins Teddy Roosevelt Invitational!
Both teams run to season personal bests and school records!
On Tuesday, November 8, the Island Trees Boys and Girls Cross Country team competed in the Teddy Roosevelt/Clint Miller Classic held on the new course at Bethpage State Park. For the first time in Island Trees history, the Girls Cross Country team won an Invitational! The team was led by Freshman Cara Duffy who finished 2nd in a school record time of 20:37.12. Senior Catherine Zamroz followed in 5th, Junior Tara Donahue in 9th and Sophomore Gabby Cardillo in 14th. These girls set the Senior, Junior, and Sophomore class course records respectively. Rounding out scorers was Marissa Murphy (17th) and Melissa Cunningham (18th) who ran her fastest 5k of the season and set a new 8th grade school record. The Girls team will finish the season ranked 11th overall in Nassau County and 29th overall on Long Island amongst the Nassau, Suffolk and Catholic schools.
