Fifth and Sixth Grade Students Create
Valentine’s Day Cards for Senior
Citizens
As an annual tradition, the
fifth and sixth grade
students created special
Valentine’s Day cards for
residents at the Fulton
Common Care Center in East
Meadow. Each fifth and
sixth grade student
decorated a card with a
large sweet candy heart with
a special message. Mrs.
Joanne Pitzer, a special
education teacher at
Memorial Middle School,
coordinated this activity
and delivered the cards to
the senior center. The
cards were distributed to
the senior citizens at the
annual Valentine’s Day
social. The residents,
including Mrs. Pitzer’s
father (who is a resident at
the facility), were
delighted and thanked the
middle school students for
their work and generosity.
The students at Memorial
Middle School made a great
impression on the seniors in
the center and made
Valentine’s Day sweeter for
the residents. Thank you to
Mrs. Pitzer and to the fifth
and sixth grade students at
Memorial Middle School for
their thoughtfulness.
