On Thursday, December 17th
an Island Trees club named Athletes-Helping-Athletes took a
trip to the Belair Nursing Home in Bellmore to take part in
the Adopt-A-Grandparent program. Thirty-eight of our finest
student/athletes made the trip to spread joy and kindness to
elderly people who have little or no living family members.
Each Island Trees student/athlete brought a gift and shared
time with the patients in the nursing home. It was an
amazing experience for both the patients and our students.
The opportunity to share conversation, smiles and warmth
proved to be a memorable experience for everyone.
Special thanks to our
Athletes-Helping-Athletes Leaders Mr. Doug Rigo and Miss
Jaime Roche for understanding the true meaning of the
holiday season and the planning of this event.
