On Thursday January 14,
2010 Students enrolled in Career Advantage at the Island
Trees High School took part in mock job interviews.
Eighty of the eleventh and twelfth grade students came
to the Long Island Marriot and went through the
difficult process of interviewing for a skilled job.
These practice interviews prepared students for the real
life challenge of maneuvering through the interview
process. The students had the experience of dressing for
an interview, preparing a resume, and actually being
interviewed. It was an invaluable experience for the
Career Advantage students of Island Trees High School.
How many people have the opportunity to practice
interviewing? This grant, provided by Astoria Federal
Bank, allows the Island Trees students this opportunity
with no cost to the district. The Island Trees School
District is the only school participating in this
worthwhile event.
Thanks to the excellence of
our teaching professionals headed by Carol Siegel the
students will build upon a skill that will land them the
career of their dreams. The Island Trees students are
prepared to take on any challenge they may face.
