The month of March is all about
reading at Sparke Elementary School
in Island Trees. The faculty and
staff at Sparke have planned the
annual Reading Incentive Program,
with support from the Sparke PTA.
This year’s theme is: “Books … Your
Passport to the World!” Throughout
the month, students and their
parents are encouraged to read
together each day. To add to the
fun, the staff has planned special
events, such as “Read a Hat Day” and
“Share Your Favorite Picture Book
Day,” and daily poetry readings
during morning announcements
featuring poems from countries
around the world. Guest readers
and buddy readers will also visit
the classrooms to share their love
of reading. Special assemblies have
been planned, including the kick-off
assembly: “The Bodacious Book Show
World Tour!” The students are
having a wonderful time as they
strengthen their reading skills and
their knowledge about countries all
over the world.
Read on, World Travelers!
