Mr. J. Peter Hansen, teacher of music theory, technology and composition at Island Trees High School, has been selected as an exemplary educator by the New York State Music Association.  Mr. Hansen appears in "Music Views," a DVD filmed by NYSSMA, to provide the teaching and learning community with a resource that deepens  educational understanding of the NYS Arts and National Content Standards through exemplary models of instruction.

The DVD provides an additional tool ensuring that every student has equal access to a quality music education. Mr. Hansen recently presented a workshop at the NYSSMA Conference in Rochester, NY on strategies in student music composition and his students have been regularly selected at the statewide level for their musical accomplishments.
