Dear
Island Trees Community,
At last week’s Board meeting
we had a number of special people recognized by the Board of Education
for their work in our schools. First, Island Trees Memorial Middle
School was recently identified for their “gold star” recycling program
by the Rauch Foundation. In fact, this was noted in an article titled
“Many Towns Get High Marks on Recycling Report Card” in Newsday. This
program was driven by the efforts of nine of our students -- Kelley
Marlow, Danielle Medellin, Victoria Mulligan, Nicole Pellegrino, Colleen
Sheehy, Kathleen Steinwall, Kristen Dethlefsen, Jenna Morlock, and
Marisa Wetzel. Thank you for your efforts in making our Island Trees
community an environmentally friendly place to live. Further, Dr. Susan
Kelly, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, was awarded the New York
State English Council Fellow Award for her dedication and service to the
Council and for her contributions to the improvement of English
education. Congratulations Dr. Kelly!
