District’s Board of
Education
Formally recognized Mrs.
Elizabeth Roemer for her outstanding accomplishments.
Dear
Island Trees Community,
At its December 16th meeting, the
Island Trees School District’s Board of
Education formally recognized Mrs. Elizabeth
Roemer for her outstanding accomplishments.
Mrs. Roemer, presently an English teacher at
the High School, was recognized by the New
York State English Council this October and
given an Educator of Excellence award. Only
three people in the state were given that
award this year. Beth was chosen based on
her work as an outstanding English teacher
as well as her previous work as English
Department Chairperson first in the Middle
School and then at the High School.
Vibrant, passionate, and collegial, Beth is
an extraordinary educator who devotes
herself to her students and to her work as
she exemplifies the Island Trees motto:
Excellence and Success for All Students.
Not only did the state recognize Mrs. Roemer
for her accomplishments, so did the National
Council of Teachers of English, NCTE. Last
month, Beth was honored at the national
conference for English teachers with the
2009 High School Teacher of Excellence Award
for New York State. Only one teacher in each
state can win this award. Mrs. Beth Roemer
not only represented Island Trees School
District but also the entire state as she
received her High School Teacher of
Excellence Award.
