Island Trees Union Free School District
74 Farmedge Road
2nd floor
Levittown, New York 11756
September 16, 2008
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I am writing to inform you that
at its special meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2008, the
Island Trees
Board of Education approved Monday,
September 29, 2008, a Superintendent’s Conference Day. On
that day, students in all district schools will be off from
school, and faculty and staff will be engaged in staff
development activities.
As you may know,
the New York State Department of Health reconfirmed its position
that there is no lead hazard exposure at the High School and it
should remain open as normal. However, the Board of Education
decided to clean the heating and ventilation system to allay any
concerns. The auditorium was completed this past weekend, and
the gymnasium will be completed this upcoming weekend. The
establishment of September 29, 2008, as a Superintendent’s
Conference Day will provide five consecutive days to complete
the cleaning of the heating and ventilation system at the High
School.
As of this writing, no decision
has been made regarding SCOPE services. When
we receive word, you will be informed.
Thank you for your
understanding and patience.
Sincerely,
James Parla
