High School Update

September 4, 2008

As stated at the August 28, 2008 special board of education meeting, we were awaiting receipt of further testing from J.C. Broderick and the Department of Environmental Conservation.  Please be advised that we still await results from the DEC, however, the results from J.C Broderick were received yesterday, September 3rd, which have been shared with all agencies and the Board of Education.  Upon review and discussion of these results, the New York State Department of Health maintains its position that the school is safe to keep open for students and staff because the area in question is encapsulated by polyethylene and a protocol is in place to restrict access to

this area.  Please note that the last two results are intentionally “spiked” by the lab for quality assurance and are not representative samples. The clearance level is 400.

We will continue to keep you informed.
