Donation to
Student Scholarships
Each year, faculty, students and staff raise funds in
order to grant scholarships to deserving graduating seniors. However, with
today’s economic climate, the task has become more and more difficult to
accomplish. If you, or someone you know would like to donate to one of our
existing scholarships or perhaps set up a scholarship, please contact us at
www.Ddonahue@islandtrees.org. The following are
some of the scholarships awarded each year.

The
Island Trees Alumni Heroes Scholarship
This
scholarship was established to memorialize two graduates killed on 9/11. FDNY Kevin Smith, Class of ’72 and NYPD Claude Daniel Richards, Class of
1973 who perished while saving others at the WTC. If you get a chance to
stop by the high school, you will see two plaques in the main lobby
detailing their lives. Each and every day, students are reminded of the
heroic paths they chose after leaving the doors of ITHS.
Dollars for
Scholars
The Island Trees Scholarship fund was formulated
to promote excellence in the young members of
our district. It is a voluntary, non-profit
organization whose purpose is to establish,
maintain and offer scholarship awards to
graduating seniors.
The James Sim
Memorial Scholarship
Laurie Sim, Class of 1962 established this
scholarship in memory of her husband James Sim.
James was an excellent student who enjoyed
reading. This scholarship helps cover the cost
of college textbooks for a deserving graduating
senior.
